Device Management

Managing Mobile Devices over the Air (OTA)

As mobile devices users and applications have proliferated in the enterprise, managing them effectively has become an enormous challenge.

Traditional LAN-focused systems are unable to deal with security, low-bandwidth, and intermittent connections common to the mobile world, nor are they able to keep up with the constant innovations in the wireless device market (Windows mobile 6.0, 6.1, 7., BlackBerry, Symbian, iPhone,... Android ...).

Configuring, managing (lost/new) and supporting multiple device brands on multiple networks has become a nightmare!!!

Phrywave offers the following answers:

PhryDM Software as a Service (SaaS) solution

PhryDM
PhryDM is a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution with a central web-based console that allows IT the ability to control a host of key functions from a standard browser. The Phrywave Hosted Device Management module offers several benefits as opposed to using the default Afaria Administrator interface to manage the Afaria Server:

  • The ability to manage users in a group structure, assigning tasks to individual users or one or multiple groups;
  • The ability to manage PhryDM through a management interface that is independent of both Operating System and browser, while the actual Afaria Server and Afaria Administrator interface can remain behind the firewall;
  • Simplified features in certain task management pages, so extensive technical knowledge is not necessary to manage the tasks within a department or
    given organization;
  • Custom features on top of the default Afaria features can be added and tweaked according to customer requirements. An example of this is the installation of Cabinet files or Certificates without scripting knowledge (by just checking a check-box).

Afaria Device Management within corporate LAN

Afaria centrally manages and secures devices, applications, and data critical to frontline business success while providing headquarters with visibility and control. While traditional systems management stops at software and inventory management, Afaria includes these capabilities and then goes beyond to help you securely automate processes and manage your content and data, regardless of the bandwidth available. Afaria overcomes the barriers that can keep frontline applications from being successful, thereby helping companies achieve business breakthroughs.

iAnywhere Afaria Device Management provides the most comprehensive and easy-to-use device management tools needed to control every aspect of your mobile enterprise. With Device Management, deploying, supporting, maintaining, and securing your devices and applications are now easy and cost-effective.

The key features of Afaria device Management are as follows:

  • Security: Security policies are centrally defined, deployed and maintained and don’t rely on frontline user involvement.
  • Process Automation: Automation of complex, multi-step processes makes them faster, easier and more foolproof—allowing workers to focus on their tasks and giving headquarters better control.
  • Data and Content Management: Information from many different sources and formats can be collected or distributed, including files, documents and other electronic content.
  • Connection Management: Connection time is minimized with communication optimization capabilities such as dynamic bandwidth throttling, compression and caching, checkpoint restart, byte-level differencing, segmented file delivery, safe file transfer, and opportunistic execution.
  • Systems Management Extensions: A full range of capabilities addresses needs such as device re-provisioning after failure and frontline device configuration maintenance.
  • Software and Inventory Management: Information about software, system configurations and devices gives IT visibility and control over technology being used at the front lines.
  • Frontline Device Support: Client types include Windows Mobile devices, iPhones, Symbian, Palm, PC, Windows laptops and notebooks (see Supported Devices).
